The Minnesota Vikings are expected to address their quarterback situation this offseason and it is likely that one of the three signal-callers currently on the roster will be released. Whether it be Christian Ponder, Josh Freeman or Matt Cassel, someone is expected to get the boot and it looks like Ponder could be getting the short straw. In a recent report, it was passed along that the Vikings are not investing any more time in Ponder and that he most likely has exhausted his final opportunity with the team. Source: FanSided.com
Vikings fans will be watching to see how this plays out,but the first domino to fall is going to be who emerges as the next HC.Mike Zimmer seems to be emerging as the favourite, and then an OC will need to be appointed. Cassel was the best of an average bunch, but he at least was able to bring Jennings into the game and move the offence. The biggest wildcard with Ponder is if they cut him it's about a $4 million dollar hit against their cap.I think Rick Spielman tries to trade him and at least get something back.
