Quarterback Brett Favre has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for the crackback block he threw on Monday night in the Vikings' preseason victory at Houston. "On a run play, as his opponent was moving toward the ball carrier, Favre struck him below the waist area," the NFL said in a statement announcing the fine. After the game, Favre said he did not mean to injure Wilson. "Percy was running my way," Favre said after Monday's game. "Believe me, I hope [Wilson] is OK. I hope it didn't look as bad on film as it may have seemed but my intentions, believe me, were not to hurt anyone, including myself. … But I think had I not blocked anyone and just got out of the way and Percy gets hit and gets hurt, I think that looks worse. But once again I hope he's OK. Believe me, my intentions were not to be cheap. … I'll be 40 years old in October and was weeding 13 days ago. I wasn't thinking about throwing blocks."

Is that the norm for that type of infraction?

Isn't it his first fine ever? I don't believe him though when he said his intentions were not to be cheap...bull crap.

I believe him...Childress is a dipcrap for running that play Favre's way in the preseason. Most times you see a QB throw a block they get low and and protect themselves. The difference here is that it was like a reverse almost so the defender didn't see Favre. Normally Favre would be making the same block head on which is legal. He still needed to be fined as Wilson could have bee seriously hurt.

I don't think it was intentional. Favre is an egomaniac, but I don't think he want to injure somebody.

    $10k - that's peanuts for him

You had me at "Childress is a dipcrap".

I agree with the rest of your post too. Why the hell would Favre try to hurt a guy in the preseason? Even if he was the type to take cheap shots, why would you do it in that situation, and against a non-divisional team? It just doesn't make sense.

I wish that guy would just go away. He looks really ugly in that purple and yellow. He probably didn't intend to injure him, but he's been a quarterback in the nfl for 18 years (is that all?). He should learn to just stay in the backfield.

He's got to line up where the coach tells him...

isn't he free game to getting jammed and hit at the line? a cb could have lit him up just standing their really, so i think its fair game. plus the block looked like the old guy fell over and just so happend to be on someone's knees
