Tarvaris Jackson admits Brett Favre's status complicates his work, but he's supportive. Asked if he feels the way the Favre situation is being handled by the Vikings is a "little bit wrong," Jackson said: "That's not for me to say. I'm not a head coach or GM or owner or anything. I look at it as everything happens for a reason and that's the approach I always took and I will continue to take that approach. Whatever happens is going to happen and I can't control it. Sage [Rosenfels] can't control it. We just have to go out and do our part and pretty much just fight. Just do our thing. That's all we can do." Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune
I hope T-Jack gets his damn mind straight and stop throwing passes while jumping and crap. Make good decision bruh and you will be a good QB. But i dont think he ever will fix that.
Make that 3rd chance or more, but he's had 2 good shots. He did show something at the end of the 2008 season, though. I wouldn't mind him getting the ball again.
i think these comments pretty much sum up the varying sentiments regarding TJ across the country. He is an enigma. at times, he looks fantastic. other times, he looks lost. i like a lot of things that he brings to the table. i think where he was lacking was in his mental game................. Finishing drives, finishing games, running 2 minute offenses, being a leader of men, etc. Observing Farve for (at least) 1 year may have been what TJ needed to go to the next level if he learned more about the mental aspect of the QB position.
I hope so, but you DO have to consider the guy's situation: 1. Went to ASU, didn't have an OC and had a defensive minded coach 2. Went to a situation in Minnesota with, let's face it, a coach who isn't quite the best at making a decision and sticking with it. 3. Never really got a chance to play through his mistakes. When he made a mistake, Childress would yank him. That said, I'm not saying he doesn't have flaws, mentally, he wasn't quite up to par, and maybe he can be a lower-key Vince Young. He's got a total of 21 starts in 4 seasons, 10-11 record. In those 21 starts: 302/519 (58%) 3399, 20 TD, 18 INT, 482 RUSH YDS, 4 RUSH TD I think he's got a pretty good chance of becoming real successful if he can fix those mental errors.
i tend to agree that TJ's development hasn't been helped by his coaching situations. But I wouldn't say that the best TJ could be is a lower-key VY. I think TJ has much more upside as a passer. I think he could be a way better nfl QB than VY, and i'm a fan of VY as an nfl QB. That's why I am hoping that maybe working under Favre for a year might help that mental aspect 'click' for him. Something has to trigger that in the player. Sometimes the player can do it themselves, sometimes coaching can do it. and sometimes it's a mentor/peer at their position that they can observe/mimmick. And, many times, it takes the player being questioned/pressured before the mental aspect kicks in (i.e. Drew Brees, Eli Manning), which TJ has now gone through by sitting on the bench for an extended period of time. i hope they give him 1 more try because he would be fun to watch if his game becomes complete.
I don't know, Jackson has yet to a) Throw to his own lineman b) Follow up a 5 TD, 400 yard game, with a 5 INT game c) Have John Carney on his team...
