Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had surgery this morning to repair a late-season injury that didn’t derail him from winning the MVP award.

The club announced that Peterson had surgery to repair an abdominal core muscle injury, also known as a sports hernia. The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia.

“We expect a speedy recovery with no long-term concerns,â€￾ the Vikings said in the release.
