Balancing on crutches in the visitor's locker room of FedEx Field on Saturday evening, Adrian Peterson didn't really know what to say but it was clear from his blank expression that he had seen his future flash before his eyes. He seemed depressed, confused and a little scared even. No one in the Vikings' locker room would say it but the vibe was apparent, that one monstrous unanswerable question hovering in the air like stale cigar smoke: If and when Peterson can return to action, will this injury have sapped him of his trademark explosion and signal a premature decline for one of the most electric playmakers in team history? It's far too early to foster much of an educated guess but the fact these questions are being asked should give you a sense of the situation's gravity and a better understanding of the suffering Peterson seemed to be experiencing Christmas Eve. After all, if you thought the hit he took from DeJon Gomes looked bad, with Peterson's knee buckling and turning in all the wrong directions, you should have felt the pain that came with it. "Was it as bad as it looked? Yeah," Peterson said. "Especially initially, the pain was very severe." Source: Sun Herald
I remember when he was first drafted people made a big deal about how he was injury prone by his style of play. Let's just hope for his sake he can come back from this because being cut short by injury just leaves you feeling so cheated.
Nothing worse than careers shortened by injuries, especially Hall of Fame caliber players. I hope he can make a full recovery.
Yeah, I remember him being injury prone when he was at Oklahoma. The man has had a damn good NFL career ever since then though. It would suck if his career ends this way.
Well the good news is that even if he can't come back to 100 %, an AP who is healthy at 90% is still better than most players in the league. He might lose his long explosion, but he can still get 5,6,7 yards and be a TD machine just by his power alone.
