Antoine Winfield is done with the Minnesota Vikings. The veteran cornerback was released on Monday afternoon, an NFL source said. Winfield was due $7.25 million in base salary in the last year of his deal. The Vikings wanted him to restructure his contract, but Winfield down the offer, per sources. Source: ESPN
Winfield will be fine. If he is smart, he just works out, stays in shape and waits it out. He'll get a job...just don't settle for the first "gig" that is offered.
i've always thought winfield was underrated. good all around cb. great against the run. he's just so old at this point.
I'll never forget the Tuesday night upset against the Eagles where Winfield basically single hadedly destroyed their offensive game plan. well, apparently the vikings are now working to bring winfield back at a reduced rate now that he has figured out he's not worth much money in the league anymore.
