The Vikings released three players on Thursday, including veteran safety Madieu Williams. Veteran defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy and wide receiver Freddie Brown also were let go. It was known for two days those two moves were coming. Williams' release certainly does not come as a surprise. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier had said Williams would not be let go but with the salary cap back in play this year at $120 million it made sense to let him go, especially if he refused to restructure his contract for a second time since joining the Vikings. Williams' cap hit this season was scheduled to be $5.5 million. Source: Star Tribune
