For the first time in his tenure with the Cowboys, Wade Phillips genuinely called out a player in public. Phillip, who usually protects his players, made it clear he was upset with safety Gerald Sensabaugh for giving up the 47-yard touchdown pass to Sidney Rice that gave Minnesota a 7-0 lead with 4:04 left in the first quarter. Sensabaugh was running step for step with Rice along the Cowboys sideline, but he failed to track the ball, allowing Rice to make the catch at the 10 and then run untouched into the end zone. "He was running right with him," Phillips said, his voice rising. "Never saw the ball. Didn't even know he caught it. That was the strangest play I've seen in a long time. I mean, he didn't even know the ball had been thrown. If he turns around, he could have intercepted or knocked it down. He had him covered. It's amazing that that happened." The fact that he didn't even attempt to bring Rice down was shocking, I mean wtf was that. I guess he didn't see it like Wade said, but just a big wtf. I don't blame Wade for calling him out.
yep, wade saw the same thing we saw and he had to call him out. it WAS weird ............. :icon_confused:
moar rep for phigs, lolz I don't see how or why you would call out 1 guy like that. The ball came in in the perfect spot and Rice made an amazing grab on it. He probably thought his coverage was so tight that Favre wouldn't throw it.
I think it's sort of good that Wade's calling people out. This isn't good in every situation, but it is with Wade. Many people have thought he was soft and thought he couldn't handle a team like the Cowboys, but he's a pretty good coach. At least he's showing that he's holding people accountable and not letting things slide and act like it's alright. Now I don't think he should make this a habit or anything, but it's nice to see him with a stronger backbone at least.
