The Rams game at Seattle to decide the NFC West title has been moved to prime time next Sunday by the league. Under its flexible scheduling policy, the NFL has switched the game to 8:20 p.m. EST. St. Louis (7-8) leads Seattle by one game, but if the Seahawks win, they will become the first division champion with a losing record in NFL history. NBC will televise the match. awesome idea.....lets flex a game between 2 teams in the craptiest conference whats next.....cowboys/cards on christmas da....oops
Maybe Rich McKay's plan of playoff re-seeding would pull through if the Seahawks win this game and clinch the NFC West with a losing record in front of a national audience.
Nice SF. Still, a winner-take-all scenario is intriguing. And it'll give Al, Cris and the crew plenty of material what with a 7-9 team possibly hosting a playoff game. We're gonna see one of these two teams on national tv in two weeks, so might as well do it next week to give us a preview at who they are. It'll also be nice to see Bradford play. Thank God NBC isn't extending it's NFC East lovefest into week 17. I thought this game would be Packers-Bears. But I am actually very happy to see two teams that never play on national tv play on sunday night.
yeah...i see where you're coming from. i'm just pissed because they could have flexed saints-bucs :icon_cheesygrin:
BREAKING NEWS!! They are putting the winner of the Seattle/St Louis game in the BCS championship against Auburn and by proxy they're letting the Ducks in the NFC West slot in the playoffs! So...I think the NFL needs to buy the UFL and add 4 teams and make the top 2 teams from the UFL move up to the NFL and the 2 worst teams NFL get's bumped. That being said, I think the NFC West just shouldn't be allowed to play in the playoffs and in the future do the seeding. Just have an NFC and an AFC and rank them that way. Screw the divisions, make it chaos! No more NFC/AFC games, just conference games and then the super bowl see's the best 2 make it!
Flex the Eagles/Cowboys. Sure it's not a super sexy game but it's fair to allow them almost a full extra day and plus it's a HUGE rivalry. Just being whiny :)
They did it that way once during the 1982 NFL strike shortened season and two teams from both conferences made the postseason with losing records: Cleveland Browns (4-5) & Detroit Lions (4-5). They were the only two teams to reach the NFL postseason with losing records. Teams earned playoff berths according to the top 8 records from each conference.
The UFL has all of 8 teams or something? In places where the NFL wouldn't work anyway. I like the Premiere League idea, but the NFL isn't going to fit into it.
I like the winner-takes-the-division idea, but who the heck wants to sit and watch these two teams outside of Seattle and St. Louis?
Meh, that would just mean one less day of rest and preparation for week one of the playoffs. Can't win either way.
actually, i don't mind this flex. we have enough of the nfc east and nfc north shoved down our throats on prime-time when we have no other choice of games, it's good to have some different teams. and even if the rams and seahawks aren't playing at a level of the patriots, i like to witness history and a 7-9 division winner would be historic.
This division is a joke. The Rams have to win just to save face. How in the hell could the NFL let a 7-9 team host a playoff game? They have to re-seed. Winning the division should just guarantee a ticket to the dance.
