eh, carolina won that game at home and their numbers are so closely related (about a half a point), the rankings are just basically saying they're about the same right now, which i wouldn't disagree with. if the saints were ahead of 10 teams or something then that would be weird.
yep, if i were doing an opinion ranking, i would have them a little lower but i can tell you one of the reasons this formula likes them. they have an big win against the #7 team in the rankings, which gives them a huge boost. So, comparing them for example to a 2-win team just below them, the 49ers, according to the formula, the niners don't have a 'quality win', they've just beaten the #13 and #22 team, which isn't as impressive.
which is why your formula is bad. the packers and lions are quality wins. both have very good offenses
The Lions are over-hyped. Their biggest problem is the free yards they love to give away with mind numbingly stupid penalties.
