Wide receiver Wes Welker sounded all right after tonight’s game while discussing his fourth-quarter ankle injury. Welker caught a five-yard pass in the fourth quarter, which was negated due to a formation penalty, and got his foot stuck in the grass surface. He got up slowly, limped all the way to the sideline and never returned. Yet, with the Patriots holding a 38-7 lead at the time of the injury and a 45-7 advantage after the drive, which served as the end of the workday for Tom Brady and other key starters, there’s no way of knowing whether or not Welker could have returned if necessary. Welker got medical attention but watched the rest of the game standing with his teammates on the sideline. He was asked after if the ankle was OK. “Yeah, I think so,†said Welker, who caught six passes for 48 yards against the Rams. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it in the morning. It’s hard to tell right after it happens. We’ll evaluate it as the week goes on.†Source: Boston Herald
