god i am so sick of hearing about how MLB is only 10% black as compared to 30% in the 70-80's. why is this an issue ?

it's not a matter of discrimination, simply put blacks just don't have enough interest in the game. they would rather play basketball & football. but that doesn't matter, something has to be done about it according to some including the president.

seriously, why the heck is this even a discussion ? why isn't there the same concern about the lack of white players in the NBA ? you know why, because it doesn't matter, let the best players regardless of color and percentages play the game.

let the game, no matter the sport, evovle the way it's going to evolve.

well when you hear obama bringing it up and others yeah it is. they are trying to put together a program to get more young blacks into the game. they don't want to play it. let it be. this isn't the pre-jackie robinson days. it's by choice.

CC Sabathia works to bring more blacks to baseball | Entertainment & Culture | theGrio

reading this article i see where sabathia states that baseball saved him by getting him off the streets and wantas to give more blacks a chance to get into a "sport" to give them a better chance in life.

why not use that effort to point out that actually getting an education is what the black community needs instead of again using sports as a means to better themselves ? the chances of making it in sports pales in comparison to that of getting an education which is free up to college.

I agree with you on that smeagle.

Education is what should be being preached.

I don't see anyone saying there should be more "whites" in basketball.
    Simply ludicrous!

If they do that and dont have a program for whites playing basketball it would be pretty racist.

that's bull, a pair a basketball sneakers these days cost as much or more than a glove, cleats and bat combined.

i agree with you. ive read these articles before and ive heard this crap about how blacks just dont play baseball. it always gets linked to two things:
you can make more money in football and baseball, or they cant afford the expensive equpiment or travel league fees

its all crap cause basketball aau fees are crazy

    I'm sure it has.

and that's fine, thats the way the sport is going. there's no need to try and purposely raise the percetage of any race in any sport because the next thing you know we will have quotas.

to me though the bigger issue here is why aren't more black athletes championing the idea that more black youths need a fringging education ? it's been proven beyond a doubt that education is the key to advancing ones self. there are only so many spots on a sports roster that can be filled but but there are millions of positions out there in the real world that could be there for them if they got an education.
