Which player will have more of an impact for their new team? Jason Taylor on the Redskins or Jeremy Shockey on the Saints?
Gotta be Jason Taylor. I think Shockey will do an ok job for the Saints but, JT will have an immediate impact.
Agree - JT's a consummate professional, and will improve their line tremendously, especially after losing their starter to injury...
I say Taylor mainly because he is a huge upgrade to the D whereas Shockey is just another piece in an already great offense.
I went for Taylor because he'll be the big-play guy on defence in Washington, whereas Shockey will just be yet another target for Brees.
It's Shockey by far. First of all Shockey has had a great relationship with Payton in the past and that will work to his advantage. Secondly, new team, new start, better attitude. Lastly, the impact Shockey will have is going to do wonders for Colston. Colston could be poised on paper to put up some ridiculous numbers. No longer will teams be able to sit on Colston and roll coverage to his side with Shockey coming down the middle. Shockey by far will have a bigger impact on the Saints as a team than Jason Taylor will on the Redskins.
First.........fair play, Shockey knows Payton so should grip his offense pretty quick. Second......applies to Taylor as much as Shockey. Lastly.....Taylors presence means the likes of Griffin and Carter will see less double teaming. The Redskins now have a pair of double digit sack DE's in a division full of good pass rushers. You need to get to the QB in the NFC East or you are hecked. One slight disadvantage for Taylor is he is likely swapping sides but it's not a massive adjustment and he'll still get some snaps at RDE too. I'd actually call it a push, both players fill holes on the teams they have joined, I don't see how it is Shockey easily?
I just think that Taylor might be a little past his prime. The Redskins will find that out soon enough. IMO, the Saints will see bigger and better results with Shockey, who still has some good years ahead of him.
