Although Baltimore Ravens veteran running back Willis McGahee returned to practice Tuesday after skipping a voluntary minicamp a week ago, he has not regained his starting job as he spent the majority of the practice with the second team while Ray Rice lined up with the starters. It's evident that McGahee still needs to prove himself to a coaching staff that grew frustrated with him last season after he admittedly reported to training camp out of shape. Ravens coach John Harbaugh issued a terse reply when asked about McGahee's progress. "I don't know," Harbaugh said. "I have no idea where he's at. It's the first day he's been here in a week and a half. I can't gauge it." Source: Carroll County Times
i don't think they should just automatically hand him the starting job either. the guy has trouble staying on the field and the ravens discovered last year that they have some other options. from my viewpoint, mcgahee is now just one of the pieces in the ravens running attack. hopefully mcgahee realizes that too.
I don't know that we'll cut him, the guys got alot of tread left on his tires - but I agree with Stubing, he's just a part of the whole. Hopefully Ray Rice is coming along, haven't heard a whole lot about that guy this offseason but he's shown potential in the past.
