No matter what happens in Sunday's NFC title game between the Falcons and 49ers, Matt Ryan very well could receive a new big contract heading into 2013. That's according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, who reports that the Falcons have had internal discussions about their quarterback's contract status.

After the Falcons drafted him No. 3 overall in 2008, Ryan signed a six-year deal worth $66 million, and the final year of that contract in 2013 is scheduled to pay him $10 million. But according to Glazer, Atlanta sounds poised to rip up the final year of that contract and reward with him a new deal.

Under new offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, Ryan had the best season of his career in 2012, reaching career-best marks in completion percentage (his 68.6 also led the league), yards (4,179), touchdowns (32) and quarterback rating (99.1).
