By the time that free agency in the NFL was about 24 hours old late on Wednesday afternoon, nine receivers had signed deals potentially worth $409 million. This included the record pact signed by a player who was still under contract -- Lions all-pro Calvin Johnson (8 years, $132 million, $60 million guaranteed). And it counts the pre-market deal that kept Marques Colston with the Saints (5 years, $40 million). All of Vincent Jackson's 5's are in the mix. His free agent move to the Buccaneers from the Chargers was mapped out by a five-year contract worth up to $55,555,555.55. Other marks were made by the Eagles' franchise-tagged DeSean Jackson ($51 million), Pierre Garcon ($42.5 million, Colts-to-Redskins), Laurent Robinson ($32.5 million to join the Jaguars), Robert Meachem ($25.9 million, New Orleans-to-San Diego), Reggie Wayne ($17.5 million to stay in Indianapolis) and Joshua Morgan ($12 million in first two years of his new package, San Francisco-to-Washington). "It's certainly a deep position in free agency," says Andrew Brandt, sports business analyst for ESPN and NationalFootballPost.com. "Even with a few franchise tags, I think the domino effect takes place, where a top player signs, and then teams go after the next-highest rated players, almost like a run on a position during the draft."
