Eric Decker- Known as one of the best wide receivers available in free agency, Eric Decker signed with the wide receiver thirsty jets. His deal is reportedly a 36.25 Million dollar deal over 5 years.
Connected with rumors to the Colts as a possible landing spot, Eric decided he could best help the Jets. It will be tough for him in facing the newly acquired Darrelle Revis of the Patriots, and Brent Grimes of the the Dolphins to name a few. Decker will have a tough time keeping his numbers accurate from last season going from a quarterback in Peyton Manning to Geno Smith or a potential rookie caller in the 2014 nfl draft. Good Luck!!! However, look for him to be a solid acquisition for the Jets and potentially make some noise this upcoming season. His move helps Geno Smith or a Rookie out alot because he gives them a big reliable wide receiver to throw to in the heat of trouble. It is a great start for the Jets offense as they try to rebuild and knock off the Patriots for the division after fizzling out last year. Look for them to improve all areas in this years draft as they decide to go defense or offense in the first round. It would be pretty scary if they could pick up a WR such as Sammy Watkins to pair up with Decker.
Last year Deckars stats with Manning under center were all career highs having put up 1,288 yards, 11 tds, and only 2 fumbles. This year under Geno Smith, Look for him to reach the possible 1,000 yard mark and the 7-10 td mark.
Where does this leave the Broncos you might ask? Yes it hurts to leave behind a solid productive receiver, but they still have Demaryius Thomas, and Wes Welker to cover up for his loss. In allowing Decker to walk , they were able to use some of that cap space to bolster there defense in signing TJ Ward, Demarcus Ware, and Aquib Talib. Look for them to sign a receiver in either free agency or using there draft picks on a wide out in this years nfl draft.
