Shortstop Jimmy Rollins appears headed to the 15 Day Disabled List, although an official word will not come until later today—Phillies.com reports the move is likely.
Rollins strained his calf while participating in his morning warm-ups routine on Monday, the injury was shown to be a Grade 2 calf strain after evaluating the MRI.
This is not only a big blow for the Phillies, but an even bigger blow for owners who lose a .391 batter who has already hit a single HR, three doubles, three RBI, and two pilfered bases.
Juan Castro will be the fill in guy, and if you're already thin at shortstop, he would make for a serviceable backup on your fantasy team, but be aware the Phillies face the Nationals one more time, the Braves, the Marlins, the red hot Giants, and the blundering Mets all in that time, so a mix big of results could be on the horizon for Castro.
For the already anemic position of shortstop, this will bring Rollins down quite a bit in any sort of power rankings you will find over the next two weeks, but be sure to remember what the guy was doing BEFORE he got hurt so as to not get mislead by a number.
