According to a number of media sources, the Florida Marlins have agreed to trade 1B/3B Jorge Cantu to the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers will post Cantu at first base for the rest of the season, as they have Michael Young at third and traded their top first base prospect, Justin Smoak, to Seattle in the Cliff Lee deal earlier.
Cantu has 10 home runs and 54 RBI entering Thursday's action, with 25 doubles as well. He could slide into the lower-third of the Rangers batting order, but has a good chance to see better pitches to hit in the potent Rangers offense than he did in Florida. It might be a good time to consider Cantu if he's available on waivers in your league.
