Brian Duensing threw his first career shutout Saturday night, masterfully defeating the Oakland A's 2-0. This was also his first start at Target Field; one that was memorable to say the least. The left-hander allowed only three hits and two walks, and fanned four in nine innings of work.
I first mentioned picking up Duensing in our Week 18 Pitchers coverage off the waiver wire, and hopefully some of you caught the article and took the advice.
Since then, he has gone 2-0 and has a season record of 6-1 with a 2.00 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 44 total appearances; five of which have been starts. In addition to his excellent record thus far, he is amazingly still un-owned for the most part, averaging around 15% in Yahoo and CBS leagues, so you might want to grab him now before everybody starts jumping on his train.
Duensing faces the Angels at home, the Rangers on the road, and the Tigers at home in his next three matchups, all of which are very tasty.
