Josh Johnson is one of the best pitchers in the game right now. He is currently 3-1 with a 1.63 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP and 53 strikeouts.
He has also taken a couple of no-hit bids late into ballgames. But, he’s not the only Marlins pitcher having a dominating season.
Anibal Sanchez has also taken a couple of no-hit bids deep into ballgames this season.
Oh, and he already has a no-hitter on his resume, coming against the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 6, 2006.
This season, Sanchez is 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP and 52 strikeouts.
And the best part about Sanchez is that he’s only owned in 53% of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball Leagues.
Sanchez has shown that he has the ability to maintain success for a full season.
So, while Johnson is not available unless you are willing to pay a king’s ransom through a trade, Sanchez is on the waiver wire in nearly half of all fantasy baseball leagues.
If you need pitching help, why not take a flyer on Sanchez? He’s been close to a no-hitter a couple times this season already. I’d want him on my team if and when he finally tosses his second career no-hitter.
And he has an ERA under 3.00. That’s a big help too.
