I don't want to say 'I told you so' but...
I hope you got to your free agent list and picked up Neftali Feliz before it became official. Ron Washington made it official this morning.
21-year old sensation Neftali Feliz has been named the 'temporary' closer for the Texas Rangers while Frank Francisco works out some kinks in his stuff.
My thinking is that Washington wants to see a few scoreless innings of work out of Frank Francisco before he gives him back the job. The problem for Frankie is that if he doesn't have good outings, Feliz will probably keep the job.
While closing for Texas, Feliz is a top-tier closer, ranked somewhere in the top 15. He offers you an elite strikeouts and WHIP at the closer position and he plays for a winning team. I still think Frank will be given another chance to close, but if he falters then expect Feliz to be the man for the rest of the year.
Last year in 31 innings, Feliz had 39 punch-outs while only walking 8 batters. He had a 1.74 ERA and a 0.68 WHIP. His stuff is just nasty.
