NY Jets 2014 Draft Predictions: Round 4

April 20, 2014 by Brendan Cole

As we continue on with the predictions for day 2, some more obscure names start being mentioned. There is still plenty of talent to be found in round 4 although many of the players are a bit less polished.

The Jets have two picks in this round so there will be an extra prediction here. I think that the Jets will look for some more secondary depth with their top pick in round 4, they do tend toward drafting defensive players after all. With the second pick, watch for them to round out their stable of tight ends. They could use another solid blocker to secure the edges for their improved group of running backs.

A Look Back At Round 3 Predictions

Who They Should Take In Round 4:

Louchiez Purifoy CB Florida - Don't get me wrong, Purifoy is not by any

Purifoy can play multiple positions and would be a nice piece for the Jets to acquire.

means an elite prospect. That's why I'm mentioning his name in round 4. He has some raw athletic talent and he has played cornerback and safety. With some good coaching he could make a solid nickel corner for the Jets and he also has the ability to contribute on special teams. Purifoy does not have much speed to offer, but I think that he could be a nice complimentary piece.

Who They Will Take In Round 4:

Chris Davis CB Auburn- It could be wishful thinking considering Davis in the fourth round, but I believe it is a possibility. He does not have the positional versatility of Purifoy, but I think that Davis has a better chance of being a starter at some point. He does not have the makeup of a shutdown corner, but he can definitely hang with NFL receivers. He would be a better fit for a zone coverage scheme but can play a bit of man coverage.

Bonus Prediction:

Arthur Lynch TE Georgia - Lynch would be a perfect fit for the Jets as he is one of the better blocking tight ends in the draft. Chris Johnson loves to run to the outside and Lynch could be just the man to seal off the corner and free up CJ2K. As far as catching passes, Lynch is not very dynamic but he does have reliable hands.

The Jets need some depth in the secondary and I think that either of the corners mentioned above would be nice additions. Pick up Lynch to help out Jeff Cumberland and the Jets are really starting to round into form. I'll be back soon with predictions for round 5, in the mean time feel free to check out the previous three rounds.
