The Green Bay Packers clinched a playoff berth with their 20-3 win in Tampa Bay Sunday after the Philadelphia Eagles’ loss a day earlier.
This is the sixth straight year with a playoff appearance for the Pack and it was the defense picking up the slack lately as the Bucs were held to 109 total yards.
The Packers defense recorded seven sacks on Bucs qb Josh McCown.
Clay Matthews dominated the backfield with 2.5 sacks. Julius Peppers added a sack-forced fumble. And Datone Jones picked off McCown for the game clinching playoff berth.
Eddie Lacy hit the 1,000 yard mark showing no sophomore slump.
As for the offense, it was Eddie Lacy leading the way with 99 yards. His 44 yard rumble to the endzone was a season long.
Lacy has been on a hot streak of late and it’s perfect timing heading towards the playoffs.
Beating a familiar foe in coach Lovie Smith was no easy task. Smith admitted though, he’s seen enough of Aaron Rodgers after his years in Chicago.
Aaron Rodgers had a strong game following a scoreless four quarters in Buffalo last week. He finally found the endzone with Jordy Nelson for their 13th hookup this season.
This win sets up a Week 17 showdown for the NFC North crown with the Detroit Lions coming to town. The Packers are undefeated (7-0) at Lambeau Field and the Lions haven’t won there since 1991.
