Pass Protection Ratings for Week 15

December 17, 2015 by Kurt Turner

Week 15 really freaking matters, so it's time to breakout the offensive line versus defensive line stats.
Week 15 really freaking matters, so it's time to breakout the offensive line versus defensive line stats.
So I've been wanting to put together a number that signifies how well an offensive line will do against a defensive line based on past performance and strength of schedule. It has take longer than expected but I feel good enough about the numbers to share them with you today. Basically, the chart below tells how well an offensive line will be able to protect or not protect the quarterback. Naturally it also tells us how well a defense will be able to get after the quarterback. It's pretty self explanatory and I added notes in the table below that may or may not help you. So if you've ever wondered how well this offensive line will do versus that defensive line this chart may shed some numerical light on the topic. Unfortunately there's things in the NFL that change each week. Coaches make adjustments and players get injured, this is every week, so I really only pay attention to the larger variations in the numbers, same with RAdv and PAdv in our optimal lineup tool.

Good luck this week!

Pass Protection Ratings for Week 15
Off Def Off Rating Notes
TEN NE -28.00 this is a pretty big negative number for the Tenn
offensive line
SF CIN -25.00 Another really big negative number for SF offensive line
NE TEN -19.00 I would worry about -19 if it wasn't Brady, but he's the
king of dink and dunk to avoid pressure
CLE SEA -16.00 Seattle will feast!
SEA CLE -15.00 Wilson will scramble to make plays.
TB STL -15.00 The Saints showed how early pressure hurts Winston long
term.
NO DET -10.00 The Saints O-Line seems to be solidifying based on the
last two week performances so….
BUF WAS -9.00
MIN CHI -9.00
PIT DEN -9.00
DAL NYJ -4.00
DEN PIT -4.00
KC BAL -4.00
NYG CAR -3.00
GB OAK -1.00
IND HOU 0.00
BAL KC 1.00
MIA SD 2.00
DET NO 4.00
ATL JAC 6.00
ARI PHI 7.00
JAC ATL 7.00
STL TB 8.00
PHI ARI 9.00
HOU IND 11.00 This makes for some sleeper plays in Houston
SD MIA 12.00 Didn't expect this rating, not sure I trust the numbers
but those that do could reach pay dirt.
CAR NYG 14.00 So you're saying Newton will have time to pass.. Ding
ding ding!
OAK GB 15.00 Another unexpected number saying Oakland should be able
to keep Carr upright versus GB.
CHI MIN 16.00 It's Miller time…
NYJ DAL 18.00 As if you needed another reason to pick Decker, Marshall
or Fitz
CIN SF 20.00 You probably didn't need this number to tip you off to
this fact.
WAS BUF 21.00 Now this one is a nice little ding ding ding for the best
overall O-Line match of the week.
