In case you missed last night’s Phillies-Rockies game, ‘Dem Phightin Phils’ took it to Colorado and pounded them in a 9-5 stellar victory.
And while there is so much to talk about in the game like The Flying Hawaiian, Shane Victorino going 2-3 with three runs scored and two home runs, one of the other highlights is the little pudgy Carlos Ruiz having his own “mile high” night.
Earlier this week I mentioned the fact that Ruiz was heating up and that you should run out and grab him, so hopefully you did. But for those of you who did not…what are you waiting for?
In the month of April, Ruiz was hitting a respectable .273/.429/.327 with 15 hits, 7 runs scored, zero homers and a fantastic 15 walks.
So far in May, he is killing the ball with a batting line of .455/.552/.682 with already 10 hits, three runs scored, four RBI, a single homer and 6 walks, and he leads the NL in OBP.
As mentioned previously, Ruiz will get on base quite a bit, and makes for a great spot pickup in NL only leagues, and if he keeps this up, he could be an all around waiver pluck for a utility role. He currently hovers around 14% ownership.
Month of May Matchups:
