He is the son of former Detroit Tigers first baseman Cecil Fielder. Fielder also holds the Brewers' team record for home runs in a season, as well as the MLB record for youngest player to reach the 50 home run mark. Prince Fielder is also the first Brewer to win the Home Run Derby, defeating Nelson Cruz 6–5 in the final round of the 2009 derby in St. Louis.
There is a fine line that most walk when it comes to Fielder. On the one hand, he will strike out a bit, but on the other hand, the guy will be a better than average 30/30 hitter who has been an underrated power machine since he first joined the league (158 HR in four years, minus his rookie season where he did not hit that much). In addition to that, the guy has hit at least 30 doubles every year since being a starter and extra base hits are always welcome in fantasy.
