- Louis Nix III “Irish Chocolate”
Louis Nix III AKA "Irish Chocolate" thunders through the bags at the combine.
- DT
- Notre Dame
Standing 6’2 and 331 lbs, Nix ran a heavy set 5.42 40 yard dash. What counts is his 10 yard split measured at 1.85 seconds. In other words, you don’t block Louis Nix, you try to stand your ground in front of a Mack truck. That kind of speed and athletic ability reminds me of nose tackle Vince Wilfork. Nix can excel in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. He has a great burst commanding double teams and can play in any gap system. He’s not known as a sack master, but Nix can power push blockers into their own backfield stuffing the run.
The only downside may be an injury and/or stamina issue having knee surgery in his senior year at Notre Dame. Carrying 331 lbs, teams should expect Nix will need to recharge the battery at times. But few guys can battle in the trenches like this making Nix a top prospect in the upcoming draft. At the prime age of 22 and playing in an NFL factory (Notre Dame), his football IQ will be fun to watch. Check out this highlight of his versatility.

Whoever drafts Nix has got to be thinking of adding that to the playbook. He keeps that up, “Irish Chocolate” could be the new “Fridge”.
