The Tennessee Titans are in a familiar draft spot for 2014 at #11 (one spot back from 2013), so here is a look at the what positions the Titans need to address in the draft.......
Offensive Tackle: The Titans have been one of the more fortunate teams to get as much productivity out of their offensive tackles as they have over the last 8-10 years. The signing of Michael Oher will help shore up this postion, but Michael Roos will be entering his 11th season with the Titans. However, with the relase of David Stewart, priority must be given to drafting a top OT talent. If the Titans decide to draft an OT in the first round, Michigan OT Taylor Lewan would be ideal. Tennessee OT Antonio Richardson, Ohio St OT Jake Mewhort, or Missouri OT Justin Britt are viable options for the later rounds.
Tailback: With the release of Chris Johnson, the Titans are at a bit of cross roads; Are they merely content with a platoon of Shonn Greene and Jackie Battle, or do they try to find a starting running back of the future in the draft? Yes, the Titans did sign Leon Washington and Dexter McCluster, but both players possess skill sets that are better served on special teams and in the passing game. Ohio St. RB Carlos Hyde and LSU RB Jeremy Hill would be ideal pickups in the 2nd or 3rd round. Alabama St RB Isaiah Crowell is a late-round option.
Quarterback: Whether it be for depth or for your franchise QB, the Titans have a need for a quarterback in 2014. While Jake Locker has made strides, he does not fit the typical quarterback that Coach Whisenhunt works with. Fresno St. QB Derek Carr or Alabama QB A.J. McCarron are possible early round options.
Linebacker: This defense is in desperate need of some playmakers at Linebacker. ILB's C.J. Mosley (Alabama), or Chris Borland (Wisconsin), or Christian Jones (FSU) would all be ideal options at inside linebacker. I like BYU OLB Kyle Van Noy if the Titans are looking to draft there.
Cornerback: With the loss of Alterraun Verner to free agency, the Titans need to find another CB they can groom for the future. Fortunately, this is a extremely deep draft for cornerbacks. Oklahoma St. CB Justin Gilbert or MSU CB Darqueze Dennard are both great 1st round options. If your looking for a corner of the Richard Sherman mold, Utah CB Keith McGill or Nebraska CB Stanley-Jean Baptiste are options as well.
