Value Picks or Value Traps, That is the Question

July 21, 2023 by Kurt Turner

Here are some players that stand out based on their projections, ADP and SOS. This list is valid as of date published and subject to recent news and events. For example, the ADP will probably change some between now and kickoff. So basically, these are just real early ideas.

Bijan Robinson (ATL/RB)

  • ADP: 6
  • SOS: 18
  • FP: 202
  • Points Over: 12
  • Recommendation: Robinson is projected to outperform his ADP as a 3 down workhorse in ATL. On the otherhand this is Atlanta. I'm a hard pass, VALUE TRAP.

Patrick Mahomes (KCC/QB)

  • ADP: 14
  • SOS: 16
  • FP: 423
  • Points Over: 65
  • Recommendation: Mahomes is one of the top QB options. Consider him as a top-tier QB1 but not at this ADP level. VALUE TRAP

Mark Andrews (BAL/TE)

  • ADP: 22
  • SOS: 2
  • FP: 157
  • Points Over: 32
  • Recommendation: Andrews is projected to outperform his ADP and offers great value as a top TE option. Consider him as a strong TE1 choice.

Justin Fields (CHI/QB)

  • ADP: 42
  • SOS: 4
  • FP: 334
  • Points Over: -24
  • Recommendation: Fields may not offer significant value compared to his ADP, but he has a favorable SOS and can be considered as a QB2 option.

Deebo Samuel (SFO/WR)

  • ADP: 38
  • SOS: 21
  • FP: 185
  • Points Over: 38
  • Recommendation: Samuel is projected to significantly outperform his ADP and offers excellent value as a strong WR option.

George Kittle (SFO/TE)

  • ADP: 48
  • SOS: 3
  • FP: 158
  • Points Over: 33
  • Recommendation: Kittle is projected to outperform his ADP and offers great value as a top-tier TE option. Consider him as a strong TE1 choice and you can spend the first 3 or 4 rounds on RB and WR. Nice value here.

Lamar Jackson (BAL/QB)

  • ADP: 36
  • SOS: 14
  • FP: 343
  • Points Over: -15
  • Recommendation: Jackson may not offer significant value compared to his ADP, but he has a relatively easy SOS and can be considered as a strong QB1 option.

Jalen Hurts (PHI/QB)

  • ADP: 20
  • SOS: 15
  • FP: 423
  • Points Over: 65
  • Recommendation: Hurts is projected to significantly outperform his ADP and offers great value as a top-tier QB1 choice. However, usually quarterbacks ADP changes as we get closer to the start of the season, and I don't like drafting a QB in the first 2 rounds. Trap.

Tee Higgins (CIN/WR)

  • ADP: 31
  • SOS: 13
  • FP: 165
  • Points Over: 1
  • Recommendation: Higgins has a decent SOS and is projected to slightly outperform his ADP. Consider him as a WR3/flex option.

Terry McLaurin (WAS/WR)

  • ADP: 55
  • SOS: 26
  • FP: 148
  • Points Over: -17
  • Recommendation: McLaurin may not offer significant value compared to his ADP, but he and the Commanders offer upside with Eric Bieniemy joining the coaching staff.
