Week 10 Waiver Wire Picks – Wide Receiver

November 8, 2016 by Brendan Cole

Week 9 was a great time to be a receiver named Mike. Evans, Thomas and Wallace all dominated the competition as they have for most of the season. For those of you lucky enough to own one or more of these Mikes, you probably had a fun week. Everyone else, read on and see waiver wire picks can help out your receiving corps.

Week 9 Recommendations Results (Standard League Scoring)

· Corey Coleman CLE – 3 catches 41 yards 4 Fantasy Points
· J.J. Nelson ARI – BYE
· Tyreek Hill KC – 3 catches 11 yards 2 rushes 21 yards 3 Fantasy Points
· Rishard Matthews TEN – 6 catches 63 yards 2 touchdowns 18 Fantasy Points

Coleman should be a big part of the Browns offense for the rest of the season, but he is getting familiar with Kessler. It looks like Nelson should still be a top target of Palmer going forward. The Chiefs offense as a whole struggled in week 9, Hill remains a boom or bust rookie. Marcus Mariota and Rishard Matthews are firmly on the same page and Matthews has 5 touchdowns in the last 5 weeks.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Picks

Double Down

Rishard Matthews TEN 11.2% owned

Rishard Matthews is making plays in Tennessee. He needs to be owned today.
Rishard Matthews is making plays in Tennessee. He needs to be owned today.

Just to reiterate, 5 touchdowns in 5 weeks. The Titans have had an easy schedule recently, but the fact that Mariota and Matthews have been able to take advantage of that says a lot. Touchdowns can be fluky, but when a quarterback is looking for a certain guy production is much closer to being assured. On top of that, the schedule does not get THAT much tougher right away. Tennessee plays Green Bay, Indianapolis and Chicago before their bye week in week 13. Those are three more teams that are susceptible to the pass, meaning more points for Matthews.

Eli Rogers PIT 2.8% owned

The Steelers had a tough time on offense in week 9, but Eli Rogers reemerged as a threat. This was on the heels of Coach Tomlin saying that Rogers would be used more often going forward. Sammie Coates is certainly a more electrifying player, but he has struggled with injuries and drops. Look for Rogers to get a chance at more snaps for the foreseeable future. With Antonio Brown rolling coverages his way, that should mean a lot of open looks for the rookie.

The Rest Of The Best Waiver Wire Picks

Marquise Lee JAX 3.3% owned

First of all, remember that garbage time points/yardage still count. The Jaguars are a dumpster fire, especially Blake Bortles, but there are flashes of brilliance. Those flashes tend to come when the Jags are down by about 30 points and the opposing defense has their 6th stringers out on the field. In spite of all that, Lee has at least 60 yards in 3 of the last 4 games and that is worthwhile usage. He should be good enough for a flex play in most leagues going forward.

For The Watch List

Taylor Gabriel ATL 0.1% owned

The Falcons offense has been a juggernaut this season, starting with MVP candidate Matt Ryan. There has been so much love to go around, that Taylor Gabriel has even been getting in on the action. Two straight usable fantasy performances have raised eyebrows, but maybe hold off on a pickup. One of those games was against an atrocious Buccaneers defense and the other could be a fluke. If Gabriel gets a decent number of targets for a third week in a row pull the trigger, otherwise save that roster spot for someone useful; perhaps C.J. Fiedorowicz.
