Week 12 Waiver Wire Picks – Running Backs

November 23, 2015 by Brendan Cole

As the bye weeks finish up, the rankings in most fantasy leagues are becoming clear. Hopefully your team is one that has a playoff spot locked up or at least still has a shot. Running back will have some solid waiver options for week 12 as more of the elite backs sustained injuries last week. If you have a need and some FAAB cash leftover, read on and see who you should pick up.

Week 11 Recap (Standard League Points)

• Jay Ajayi MIA - 3 pts
• Shaun Draughn SF - 7 pts
• Javorius Allen BAL - 10 pts
• Recommend Dropping: Christine Michael DAL - 0 pts
Ajayi should be a better option moving forward, but his usage still is not at an encouraging level right now. Draughn will be a flex option as long as Carlos Hyde is on the shelf (which I think will be the rest of the season). Javorius Allen is the real prize in this batch. Justin Forsett is done for the year and the Ravens will likely want to see what they have in Allen as far as being a featured back. The only downside is that Flacco is out and the Ravens offense may struggle mightily. Michael continues to get very little usage and should not be on rosters.

Week 12 Picks

Thomas Rawls SEA

Rawls could rack up some points if he keeps getting chances.
Rawls could rack up some points if he keeps getting chances.

Rawls absolutely annihilated the San Francisco defense in week 11. I realize that the Niners are a bad team, but over 200 yards rushing still looks impressive in the box score. The case can be made that Rawls should be starting regardless of Marshawn Lynch’s health at this point. The usage will be tough to predict, but this is a player that needs to be owned in every league. This goes double for keeper leagues. Beast Mode likely does not have much left in the tank and Rawls looks like a special player.

Javorius Allen BAL

I recommended Allen last week as a candidate to stash on the bench. The injury to Forsett has made him much more than that, so I am listing him as a must add player now. Players in redraft leagues should grab him of course, but keeper leagues should be even more interested. If Allen can prove himself capable of handling three down duties, the Ravens will probably not try to resign Forsett in the offseason. This could be the Ravens starting running back for the next few season if things break right.

Tevin Coleman ATL

Devonta Freeman is another star back that went down with an injury in Sunday’s action. Freeman suffered a concussion which makes him very questionable as far as a return timetable is concerned. Coleman has not looked particularly impressive in limited action this season, but he will have the starting job if Freeman cannot go. Grab Coleman and you could get some serious returns from this Falcons offense.

Bonus Pick: Spencer Ware KC

The backup running back cornucopia is topped off by Spencer Ware. After budding star Charcandrick West went down with a hamstring injury, Ware came into the game and racked up over 100 total yards. He also scored two touchdowns. If West misses time then Ware could be in line for quite a few touches. If the Chiefs have shown anything this year, it is that their starting running back will usually be useful to fantasy owners.
