I hate to be "that guy" again, but why do tight ends hate fantasy football players? There could not be a better week to demonstrate the difference between the haves and the have-nots for tight end production. If you had George Kittle, you were obnoxiously happy. If you had Kyle Rudolph, you were expectedly depressed. But hey, we have to do this. So let's get into it.
Target Monsters
The Panthers did not miss Greg Olsen. Rookie tight end Ian Thomas looked like the future for Carolina, absorbing 11 targets en route to a productive, 9 reception, 77 yard day. The Saints are tough on opposing tight ends, but the overall lack of volume coming out of the position makes Thomas a bit o' gold you need to horde.
Jared Cook, I wish I knew how to quit you! Cook has averaged the 5th-most targets for tight ends, and is subsequently the TE5 on the season. Targets matter, people! Oakland has started a mini-surge lately, and Cook is still the primary offensive weapon. If he's on your roster, you need to start him this week against Cincinnati.
Hey, Rob Gronkowski is back! Despite whiffing on a tackle that ultimately cost the Patriots the game, Gronk put up a real nice stat line against Miami. He caught all 8 of his targets for 107 yards and a touchdown, looking like the Gronk of old.
Blake Jarwin invested heavily in Stickum this week, reeling in all 7 of his targets for 56 yards against Philly. Coming into that game, Jarwin had 7 total career receptions. So don't get too excited, is what I'm saying.
