Some big name players are injured or disappointing among the ranks of wide receivers. Antonio Brown could not manage 60 yards and Julio Jones is still not taking the field. A.J. Green is out, Terrelle Pryor is injured again, the list just keeps going. Never fear, there are plenty of viable waiver options here to save the day and help secure that championship.
Week 15 Recommendations Results (Standard League Scoring)
· Marqise Lee JAC – 0 receptions 0 yards Return Touchdown 6 Fantasy Points
· Kenny Stills MIA – 1 reception 52 yards 1 touchdown 11 Fantasy Points
· Adam Thielen MIN – 0 Receptions 0 Yards (Left With Neck Injury)
· Cameron Meredith CHI – 9 receptions 104 yards 10 Fantasy Points
The Jaguars have some very talented receivers including Lee, but Bortles limits their value due to being a terrible quarterback. Still managed just one catch, but in this case it was enough. Thielen left with a worrisome injury as his neck was the problem area. His return this season has to be in question. The Bears seem to have an emerging star in Cameron Meredith. He has been very productive for much of the season despite a string of subpar quarterbacks.
Week 16 Waiver Wire Picks
Dontrelle Inman SD 40.5% owned
This has been a brutal season for the Chargers receiving corps and offense in general. At the moment, Inman seems like the safest bet among the San Diego receivers. He has outplayed Tyrell Williams four weeks in a row and that seems like it will continue. In addition to his high level of play he will be facing the Browns in week 16. If Melvin Gordon were healthy the Chargers might choose to run over the Browns, but that may not be an option. As such, Inman looks like a good bet to continue his streak of strong performances.
If Bryce Petty Plays
Robby Anderson NYJ 5.9% owned
The single person in the world that benefits from Bryce Petty playing football may be Robby Anderson. The Jets are just awful and Petty looks overmatched by just about every team. He does have an excellent rapport with Robby Anderson, but that is about it. If Petty manages to battle through his injury and play, then Anderson is an excellent start. If Ryan Fitzpatrick ends up taking the field for Gang Green, Anderson (and every other Jets receiver) should be avoided.
J.J. Nelson ARI 10% owned
Nelson has been on a roll for the last couple of weeks, scoring touchdowns in three straight games. There are a lot of targets headed for Nelson, but week 16 brings a tough matchup with the Seahawks. After facing the Dolphins and Saints, the numbers may be a bit inflated for Nelson, but there should still be enough throws to make him worth a gamble. If nothing else, the Cardinals have enough offensive weapons that there are likely to be a couple of coverage mistakes at some point.
Give Him Another Chance
Marqise Lee JAC 11.9% owned
He is not entirely blameless for his lackluster week 15 performance, but the fact that Bortles threw for less than 100 yards says it all. Several running backs ran for more yards than Bortles could throw for. Next week the Jaguars are facing the Titans and there should be some quality garbage time toward the end of the game. There is no reason to believe that the Jaguars will be in this game at all. That means that fans will have to suffer through more Bortles nonsense, but Lee could very well piece together a useful stat line.
