IDP Fantasy Football waiver wire picks from a close friend of Fantasy Knuckleheads, JAD.
At DB:
- Antoine Bethea: Bethea has not missed a game in over 4 seasons. If your league values tackles, pick him up and he will get you you IDP points. If you are counting on bigger plays DON'T pick him up. Yes sure he had the interception this past week, it was his second interception in 4 years!
- Duke Ihenacho: Strong preseason landed him the starting job over veteran Mike Adams. First career NFL start and you have 11 solo tackles and 1 assisted. That is someone you want to keep an eye on. Von Miller's return might impact his numbers but not by much.
- Baccarri Rambo: Okay here you are getting 2 things. A cool name on your team and a very solid rookie safety who is going to start in Washington for many years to come. He had a very impressive camp to win the starting job. And in game one, he racked up 6 tackles, 4 assists and a sack! One rookie to keep in mind for IDP leagues.
- Tyrann Mathieu: Matt already wrote about this 3rd round sleeper. I won't go too much into details as most of you probably saw that amazing play he made to save a Jared Cook TD.
- LaRon Landry: You know him, you avoided him in the draft because of injuries. Well pick him up as when he is healthy he is one of your best DB in terms of tackles. He had 15 tackles on Sunday
Keep an eye on : Da'Norris Searcy, Barry Church
At DT, DL
- Dontari Poe: Poe had six tackles 1.5 sacks, a pass deflection, and two quarterback hits vs. Alex Smith and the Chiefs. He is entering his second year and Head Coach Andy Reid has only said good things about him. He might need another game like this before you start him but pick him up and put him on your bench.
- Whitney Mercilus: Yes I like 2nd year guys. But what I like more is 2nd year guys who have earned their way onto the starting lineup. If he is listed as a LB in your league stay away he won't get you near what you are looking for. But if he is a DE pick him up as a DL2/3
- Jason Babin (DL): If you have been burned by Babin before proceed with caution. Facts are Facts, and here the fact is very simple, he might very well be Jacksonville's best defensive player. He will have double digits sacks, and will put up respectable number of tackles
At LB
- Erin Henderson: Undrafted, suspended for abusing ban substances, younger brother of EJ Henderson! We don't care about any of the above. He has moved from weak side to middle linebacker for the Vikings. If he stays healthy he could toy with triple digit tackles.
- Alec Ogletree: Rookie but is adapting very quickly on a Rams solid defensive team. He lead the rams in tackles and should be a very solid pick up for you.
- Karlos Dansby: Back in Arizona and back to tackling. Well at least till Daryl Washington gets back from suspension. Keep an eye and pick him up even if for a few weeks.
