Here comes Week 3 and it is time to re-evaluate the DBs. These guys have so much turnover for year to year and week to week that it is ridiculous. Is this the week LaRon Landry finally comes back? If so, will he stay healthy and how will he perform? How will Drew Coleman being in the starting lineup help or hurt Dawan Landry? Will Patrick Chung's injury limit him? Can you keep sticking with Tyvon Branch even though he has had a steady but unspectacular first two weeks?
Lots of questions heading into this week. Personally, I am keeping a specific eye on Branch. He is trying to help carry the back end of that secondary. Michael Huff is hurt, Matt Giordano stinks, and Branch should be stepping up. I have not lost hope in him yet. So far this year, Stanford Routt has been one of the best (if not THE best) CBs in terms of stopping completions from being made against him. I do not think this will continue. When it doesn't, Branch will have even more tackle opportunities in the back end of that defense. Not to mention he will have many chances to play in the box and help against the run this week against a Jets team that will try to grind them down. For me, I say start Tyvon Branch. As for Landry, I expect him to do big things as soon as he is back on the field. However, look at what happened to Jon Beason when he rushed back from an Achilles injury. I have my doubts that Landry can stay on the field. For that reason, I am benching LaRon Landry until I see what he can do.
