The Week 9 TE Fantasy Football Rankings doesn't have many changes going into the second half of the season. While there have been players like Rob Gronkowski holding steady, players like Jermichael Finley continue to disappoint. As always, I'd like to cover a couple topics before heading into the rankings themselves.
Heath Miller Is A Red Zone God
Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think Heath Miller would have fantasy football relevance in 2012. Known more for his blocking than pass catching, Miller had always been one of those guys who would have a small glimmer of fantasy value and then fall back into the fantasy wasteland. Not this year. He has scored at least 1 touchdown in the team's 7 games so far this year and is averaging 5 receptions per contest. Many knew Miller had the talent, but could we thank OC Todd Haley for Miller's new found fantasy value? Perhaps. If you have him, continue to roll with Miller until he comes back down, which I don't see happening any time soon. He's been Ben Roethlisberger's favorite target near the goal line.
Kyle Rudolph Is Plummeting
While Miller's value is holding strong, Rudolph's is slipping rapidly. After starting out red hot in the first half of the season, Rudolph's value has dropped like a stone after catching just 2 passes in the last 2 games. After scoring 5 times in the first 7 games, not only has Rudolph failed to get a look in the end zone, but he is no longer as big a part of the offense as he was. Vikings beat writer Tom Pelissero says Christian Ponder "seems increasingly skittish" about throwing Rudolph's way while covered. That's not good news for a player who isn't known for getting separation from a defender. After being ranked as a TE1 for so long, Rudolph's value has dropped to a mid-tier TE2 with no hope in sight. If you have other options, use them until we start seeing Rudolph more involved in the passing game.
Also, make sure to check the rankings again between now and Friday to see if anyone has moved up or down due to latest news.
