Darrelle Revis was one of the best cornerbacks in the whole NFL not long ago which means the decision by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to try to release or trade him interesting. There are going to be teams lined up to get their hands on Revis if the Bucs actually do release him on Wednesday. Here are five teams that could be good or at least interesting fits for Revis.
New England Patriots: The team is likely going to lose Aqib Talib in free agency and needs another corner. What better way to get back at the New York Jets than to get Revis to play against them twice a year? Everyone knows that you can leave Revis in man-to-man coverage alone on any receiver. He would stop any hopes the AFC East has of throwing the ball a lot.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles tried something like this before with Nnamdi Asomugha with no success at all. Revis however is a better player at least in my opinion. He would make the Eagles better from day one and with a receiver like Dez Bryant in the division; the Eagles could use someone with Revis’ coverage ability.
Cleveland Browns: This one may be out there but if you pair him with Joe Haden, Cleveland may effectively shut down the passing games of their divisional rivals. The question is whether or not the Browns want to use most of their free agent dollars on one player when they have just as many holes around the field as their rivals do.
Oakland Raiders: The Black Hole would love to see Revis there and the Raiders have a ton of money to spend being nearly $60 million under the salary cap. There are holes all over the Oakland secondary and adding Revis would at least bring some stability to the secondary with a lot of talent in the division. The Raiders need Revis need than he needs them though.
New York Jets: He could go back home to the Jets. That is highly unlikely but the team could move Kyle Wilson to a nickel position and pair Revis with a prototype of him in Dee Milliner, who could use the experience of Revis on the other side. The question boils down to whether or not Revis would want to go back to the Big Apple or not.
