In this photo taken Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, Texas sophomore safety Earl Thomas is shown during a break in the Longhorns team practice in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns defensive secondary, the unit that was the weak link last season, is now bigger, faster and smarter. He played his prep ball at West Orange Stark in Orange, Texas. The Seahawks go out and solve a riddle by selecting Safety Earl Thomas of Texas. At 5’ 10” 208 pounds this guy is a legit speedster, cover man, equipped with a ton of pro style technique that should add value around the middle of the year. His only knock is his undersize at the position, but his speed more than makes up for it.
