New 49ers receivers Austin Collie and Lavelle Hawkins will get more work in practice this week as San Francisco continues to search for wideouts behind Anquan Boldin. Coach Jim Harbaugh told the Sacramento Bee he's pleased with what he's seen from Collie and Hawkins since they signed Aug. 2.
"They're studying hard, working hard to get out there and chomping at the bit to be out there," Harbaugh said.

Collie caught two passes for 20 yards at the end of the preseason opener, but has yet to get extensive work with Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers "remain wary of [Collie] going at top speed" because he's coming off a torn patella tendon, the paper said.

"I think coming off of serious leg injuries, you've got to be conscious of not bursting and not hitting that top gear just yet," Harbaugh said. "So it's a progression."
