Former Stanford assistant Greg Roman has joined the 49ers as their offensive coordinator, according to a source. Roman served as Stanford’s associate head coach and was as responsible as anyone — including head coach Jim Harbaugh — for the Cardinal’s offensive success and creativity. Roman has extensive NFL experience, having been an assistant for Carolina, Houston and Baltimore. He was a finalist for the Stanford head coaching position that went to David Shaw. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. I really feel they have weapons on offense and are simply lacking the quarterback to direct that offense. Hopefully Roman can dig up a scheme that can give them enough of a passing game to keep that running game churning. It's all about what they end up doing under center. That will define Harbaugh and Roman.
