There are groups of 49ers players working out in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Arizona and Atlanta. And others are preparing for the 2011 season -- if there's going to be a 2011 season -- in their hometowns. But despite players being scattered across the country, the 49ers remain together, veteran linebacker Takeo Spikes told CSNBayArea.com. In his eight years associated with the erstwhile union, Spikes said he has never seen the players stick together as tightly as right now during the NFL's work stoppage. "That's one of the things, as a group, everybody is united," Spikes said. "There's true solidarity in our locker room." Of course, the locker room is off-limits to the players, as the owner-imposed lockout nears its second full week. Spikes, the 49ers' player director, along with assistant directors Patrick Willis and Tony Wragge, keeps the 49ers players updated in the latest developments of the labor dispute via email.
