According to Comcast Sports Network in San Francisco, the 49ers might be looking at competition for kicker Joe Nedney in 2011. He missed the final seven games of the season after sustaining a knee contusion and strained right knee in the middle of the season. It was the second season in a row the 15-year veteran ended up on injured reserve. When he was healthy, he was steady as usual, making 11 of 13 field-goal attempts, including 2 of 3 from beyond 50 yards. Nedney is signed for the 2011 season.
