Jason Campbell's one start for the Chicago Bears in 2012- a 32-7 debacle against the San Francisco 49ers in which Campbell was sacked six times- did not exactly inspire confidence among the Bears faithful. Without Campbell, however, the Bears have almost nothing to protect them from disaster if an injury-prone Jay Cutler goes down again. From that perspective it is maybe not surprising that the Bears are pushing hard to re-sign Campbell according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Campbell does provide veteran leadership in the locker room and more insurance than most other options in a weak free agent back-up QB market. With Matt Moore signing a two-year deal to stay with the Miami Dolphins today and a week QB draft class, Campbell has become an attractive and relatively inexpensive option. he will likely get multiple offers if allowed to hit the open market.

If Campbell doesn't come back, go after Grossman. I'm serious.
