Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman declined Monday to second-guess a controversial decision made during a 23-20 overtime loss Sunday to the last-place Minnesota Vikings that dealt the team's postseason hopes a major blow.

The Bears missed several chances to put the Vikings away, including Robbie Gould’s 47-yard field goal in overtime that barely missed wide right.

"Could we have done something different? I felt at the time it was in the best interests of the team considering the circumstances, being on the road and the noise and being in Robbie's range," Trestman told WBBM-AM 780.

Trestman noted that "there were a lot of unique penalties happening in that game and some unique plays. Robbie was clearly within his distance. And Robbie's miss didn't lose the game. We had a number of opportunities. No one play loses the game."

Trestman is being BBQ'd on this one.

Problem is the ridiculously high expectations of new coaches/system/OL & an aging D that leaks like the Titanic.

This year was & will continue to be a learning curve & showing of the weaknesses the off season moves will be waiting on.

Does smack of that but it's actually the 1st time Trestman's shown what he feels like with this D.

Normally optimistic, this shows he's a realist & more than aware of how precarious it is to allow any offense back on the field.

No way do you kick a FG in that situation. For Gould 47yds is makable but you still have 2 more downs to get closer.
    But that's just me.
