The Chicago Bears held a light practice without helmet or shoulder pads and still were missing six players, four of them starters, in practice Wednesday at the Walter Payton Center.

Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher, sidelined since the Dec. 2 loss to the Seahawks with a hamstring injury, remained out. That puts him in jeopardy of not playing Sunday against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Urlacher ran before the game this past Sunday at Arizona and coach Lovie Smith indicated it was a possibility Urlacher would play this week.

Smith said Urlacher is “getting better,â€￾ but at this point a recovery in time for the game seems less likely.

His smarts are irreplaceable but his mobility's been hampered all year.

Time to call it a year & probably career, Brian...

Yeah unfortunately he is slowing down on the field and has been for the past couple of seasons or so. It's been great watching him play all these years.
