The Chicago Bears have signed tight end Leonard Pope to a one-year contract.

The 6-foot-8 Pope has 105 receptions for 982 yards and 11 touchdowns over seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2006-08), Kansas City Chiefs (2009-11) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2012). He appeared in 16 games last season and had three receptions for nine yards and two touchdowns.

The Bears announced the move on Saturday. They also waived tight end Brody Eldridge.

This signing can't hurt. As long as he can catch the ball, he's alright to me.

Imagine the height in the red zone with Marshall, Jeffery, & Pope...

Yeah, Pope is only 6 ft 8 in tall. He better put that height to good use.

Love isnt gonna dominate a DE or an OLB and seal off the edge for Forte or win those jump balls in the endzone

Unless of course Kevin Love is crossing over to the gridiron. He'd be a pretty sick TE

The Bears need all the WRs and TEs that can catch the ball they can get.
