It’s beginning to look as though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will benefit greatly from the decision to pull TE Dallas Clark out of the scrapheap.

Clark appears to be completely recovered from the wrist and lower leg injuries that derailed him the past two years, and he has quickly developed a good on-field rapport with QB Josh Freeman.

Clark’s strength is catching the ball, not blocking, so the Bucs’ intentions are to use him almost exclusively as a pass catcher on the line as a tight end and out wide as a receiver. The Bucs hope that by limiting Clark’s work as a blocker he’ll remain healthy and therefore become a key cog in their offense.

Clark doesn’t have the speed to gain great separation from defenders in man coverage, but he works very well against zones.
