Kevin Acee of the San Diego Tribune mentioned that Ryan Mathews‘ chances of playing in Week 2 are looking very slim. Mathews broke his collarbone during the preseason and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Coach Norv Turner said that Mathews could be cleared for contact anytime from Wednesday, to next week. A return this Sunday looks very unlikely, as Mathews’ situation seems to be rather unstable. Ronnie Brown and Curtis Brinkley are expected to fill in for Mathews if he doesn’t play.
