San Diego Chargers coach Mike McCoy said he would tailor the defense around defensive end Dwight Freeney if the organization can sign him, according to the Associated Press.

McCoy reportedly came away impressed with Freeney, who recently visited the Chargers' facility. Though the Chargers have a base 3-4 defense, McCoy indicated that if Freeney was in the fold, the team would fit the defense around the veteran defensive end.

In 2012, Freeney recorded five sacks in a 3-4 defense with Indianapolis. As recent as 2010, Freeney tallied 10 sacks.
